The Witness review

 The Witness

It has been a long time since the release of the genius game Braid, and since then everyone has been waiting for the new talent behind that game. We finally got there, and The Witness came out, and it looks weird in every way. The game is an open world, and you are immersed in it from a first-person perspective, although the player in it does not have any weapon or performance, unlike what is known from games of this type. The reason is that the whole game is a very deep puzzle game!

The puzzles of the game depend mainly on connecting two points to each other, and this is what will happen at first. Then, later, additional conditions and laws are added that make the puzzle not as easy as one might expect to connect a line between two points. But the real genius in the game lies in the way the puzzles are presented, as you will find on the way and at the beginning some puzzles that you will not understand how to solve except with luck on the first try.

The game depends on the method of exploration and learning, as it requires you to analyze the environment around you accurately, in order to find some tips and training puzzles to learn how to overcome the obstacles that await you. If you want to know more about it in a live example from the beginning of the game and it will not burn you anything, then watch our review in the following video.

What makes the game more fun than any other puzzle game is its world. In the game, you are located on a small island, and everything you see can be accessed. You can walk through the game sequences differently than any other player. Each area in the game contains a different set of puzzles and great ideas. Also, there is an overlap between the game areas, and you are involved in some puzzles and ideas. And for those who love to explore, you will find here some secrets and interesting places, and some audio files that will involve you more in the hidden story of the game.

Perhaps The Witness's only problem is that some of the puzzles will require deep thinking outside the box to solve them and with that patience from the player, and some of them depend on memory more than intelligence. But in general, the game is very fun, and one of the games that you may have to play intermittently because it requires you to fully focus while thinking. The game really reminds me of the other genius Portal, in how to deal with the environment and leave it up to the player to discover and learn. Without a doubt, one of the best games released this year.
